It was February 2020 when SPESA came to Miami to hold a quarterly Board Meeting and host an After Hours celebration with its local Florida members. The After Hours was held at a Top Golf in Doral on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon.
As the SPESA team got set up for guests to arrive, an early bird walked through the door. It was Dorothy Fullam. The team sat with her, talked about south Florida, talked about the industry, and talked about family and friends. She brought so many great stories to the table and shared jokes that warranted nothing but the best belly laughs. You couldn’t ask for a better way to start the night.
In 2022, for those who attended Texprocess Americas, it was hard to miss Dorothy running around. Shaking hands, giving hugs, asking how everyone had faired during the Covid-19 pandemic. When we came to chat with her in the Juki booth, she wanted to know how “the boys” were. The boys being Bo and Rhys, the sons of SPESA's Michael and Maggie McDonald. It had been nearly three years since she first met Bo at the SPESA Executive Conference in New Orleans in 2019. But it came as no surprise that she remembered him and remembered that another little guy (Rhys) had arrived in 2020. That was who she was. Thoughtful, kind, and willing to take the time to hear how you were doing.
Dorothy was always like this. She brought joy to every room she walked into. She brought an uncanny expertise to the industry she served. And she will be greatly missed by the SPESA family and extended community.
We will always celebrate the person she was, and the light she brought, and continues to bring, to the sewn products industry. Here's to you, Dorothy.
Dorothy Rose Fullam, 70, of Hollywood, passed away January 16, 2023. Born November 18, 1952 in Teaneck, New Jersey to Jerome and Rita Fullam, she made a career as a Human Resources Manager.
Dorothy is survived by her longtime partner John Cagney, brothers Nelson, Francis (Diane), Gary, Raymond (Carole), Brian (Cathy) and sisters Rita (Bob) Goodwin and Catherine D'Elia.
The family received family and friends on Monday, January 23, and a Funeral Mass of the Resurrection was held Tuesday, January 24, in the Holy Family Chapel at Nativity Catholic Church in Hollywood, FL.
