Lectra, Gerber Boost Productivity with Patternmaking Solution Interoperability

Lectra and Gerber say their patternmaking users will now be able to easily exchange CAD digital assets between their Modaris and AccuMark software to boost productivity in the fashion ecosystem.

Due to the diversity of user needs and required functions, designers, pattern makers, developers and manufacturing teams often work with different CAD systems and platforms, Lectra says.

This means compatibility is essential. However, interoperability among various CAD systems has been a major challenge for the industry.

Thanks to the synergies created by the integration of Lectra and Gerber, Modaris and AccuMark customers now have access to modules that make the pattern conversion process quick and accurate, the two firms say.

For Modaris users, Pattern Converter is a web application that enables companies to convert files in the AccuMark format into the Modaris format with a simple drag and drop. AccuMark users will be able to use Data Conversion Utility or Pattern Design, both of which are fully embedded in the AccuMark software, to convert Modaris patterns to the AccuMark format. Not only do these applications eliminate the time-consuming, error-prone manual conversion process but they are also said to enable companies to reduce costs linked to data conversion, open up the scope of collaboration and boost productivity by streamlining communication between teams and departments.

We understand that Lectra and Gerber customers have been using a mix of programmes in their ecosystem for decades. Providing them with the flexibility they need to work in faster fashion cycles is our top priority. We are working on even more ways to ease the operations of our customers, no matter what tools and processes they use,” says Céline Choussy, chief product officer.

French technology specialist Lectra signed off on its acquisition of US rival Gerber Technology in June.

It inked a deal to acquire the entire capital and voting rights of the Romanian company Gemini CAD Systems in September a move it said will enhance the depth of its fashion software portfolio.
